If you want the short version: we put StudioKrew at number one, and we will explain why without pretending that is a neutral position. We rank by four things a buyer can verify before signing anything. Shipped titles you can open on a store page. Engine depth that matches your genre. Published pricing, or the absence of it. And whether the studio takes client work at all in 2026, because several well known Indian names no longer do. Ten companies, each with the specific thing we would confirm on a first call.
One thing has changed the ground under this list. The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules came into force on 1 May 2026; real money formats are prohibited, and e-sports and social games got formal recognition. If you are commissioning a card or board title for the Indian market, that changes your brief before it changes your budget.
How We Judged
We are a services studio. We lose pitches to most of the companies below, and we win some. That gives us a specific kind of information, and also a specific kind of bias, so we tried to keep the criteria mechanical and stick to what is publicly on the record.
First, verifiable delivery. A store link, a Steam page, a credited title. Not a case study PDF. Second, engine and genre fit, because a studio that ships hyper casual mobile is not the same studio that ships a PSVR2 port, and the sales deck rarely says so. Third, pricing transparency, treated as a binary. Either the numbers are public, or they are not. Fourth, current 2026 status, checked against company sites, GoodFirms, Clutch, Tracxn, and press from this year rather than 2023 listicles. Founded years and headcounts disagree across directories more often than you would expect, so where they conflict we say so. One thing we did not judge on: awards. Most are self-nominated.
1. StudioKrew
Founded 2013. Delivery teams in India, with offices in Chicago and Oakville, Ontario. Twelve years in, 700 plus games shipped for clients across India, the USA, the UK, the UAE, Australia and Canada. We work in Unity, Unreal Engine 5, Godot and HTML5, and we run full cycle, which means concept, art, build, launch and LiveOps under one contract rather than three vendors and a producer trying to hold them together.
The reason we rank ourselves first is not the title count. It is that we publish our prices. Fixed price MVPs start at $20,000. An MVP lands in eight to twelve weeks. Rates start at $18 per hour, and dedicated teams run $15,000 to $40,000 per month. Every one of those numbers is on the site before you talk to a salesperson, which is unusual in this market and deliberately so. Our head of delivery has a standing rule that any scope we cannot price in a first call is a scope we have not understood yet. If you want the service pages, we are a game development company in India and a game development company serving clients globally, with a separate practice as a mobile game development company for Unity and HTML5 mobile work.
Best fit: founders and brands who need a scoped MVP, a live mobile title, or a full cycle build with LiveOps attached, and who would rather see a number than a discovery call.
Worth confirming with us: we are a work for hire studio. We do not fund, publish, or co-invest in your IP, and we are built for scoped delivery rather than 200-person AAA console productions with an in-house motion capture stage. If your project needs a publisher’s balance sheet rather than a delivery team, say so on the first call, and we will tell you straight.

2. Juego Studios
Bengaluru. GoodFirms and Grokipedia both list 2013 as the founding year, though the company’s own materials and some directories point to 2011, so treat the date as approximate. Grokipedia puts the team above 250, with offices in the US, UK and Saudi Arabia. Work spans full-cycle production, co-development and game art, in Unreal and Unity, per their site. They also market an internal AI production framework for art, code and QA.
Best fit: publishers and funded studios looking for co-development capacity on an existing production rather than a from-scratch MVP.
Worth confirming: founding year, current headcount and hourly band, since the public directories disagree. TechBehemoths lists $30 to $70 per hour against a GoodFirms Bengaluru category median of $37, and no rate card appears on their own site, so ask directly.
3. Lakshya Digital
Gurugram, founded September 2004, part of Keywords Studios since 2014. Current job postings put the team above 700 across Gurgaon, Pune and Seattle, while their own site claims over 1,000 globally. This is an art and animation production house, and the credits are long: Elden Ring, Destiny 2, Street Fighter 6 and Final Fantasy XVI all appear in their public list.
Best fit: global publishers outsourcing character, environment or animation pipelines at volume, under enterprise NDA and security requirements.
Worth confirming: whether your brief needs engineering, backend and LiveOps alongside art, because the specialization here is art and animation production. Ask about minimum engagement size before you build a timeline around them.
4. SuperGaming
Studios in Pune, with the company headquartered in Singapore per its own site. Known for MaskGun, Silly Royale and Indus Battle Royale, which launched in October 2024 on Unity. Their site reports 200 million installs and 100 plus games shipped. In January 2026 they announced Prime Rush with Brazilian e-sports organization LOUD, built on the Indus engine, which launched in Brazil that March.
Best fit: not a vendor engagement. This is a product studio building its own titles, listed here because buyers researching Indian studios will encounter the name constantly.
Worth confirming: whether they take external client work at all, since their public focus is their own catalog. If you are shortlisting service vendors, this name usually comes off the list at that question.
5. 99Games
Udupi, Karnataka, established 2008. Twenty two published titles and over 100 million downloads per their own materials, including Star Chef and licensed Bollywood titles such as Dhoom:3 The Game and Sultan: The Game. Team of roughly 100 in Udupi as of their last public statement.
Best fit: brands looking for a licensed mobile title with an operator that has run free to play economies for over a decade.
Worth confirming: current availability for client work and how they price it, since their public focus is their own published catalog and no rate card is listed.
6. Zatun
Ahmedabad, founded 2007 by Abhinav Chokhavatia. A 2024 profile put the team at around 25 people, with 70 to 80 percent of revenue from outsourcing. They are a registered PlayStation developer per their site, working in Unity and Unreal, with 20 plus games across 23 platforms and a VR title, Down and Out, shipped for PSVR2, Meta Quest and Steam VR.
Best fit: console and VR porting work, plus 3D art and character modeling on a per asset or per artist basis.
Worth confirming: current bench size and parallel capacity, since the most recent headcount figure we could verify dates from 2024. Ask this before you commit to a launch date.
7. GameEon Studios
Mumbai, founded 2013, led by Nikhil Malankar. Tracxn records $1.52 million raised across three rounds, with the most recent in September 2024. Known for Unreal work, a cricket management title, and Mumbai Gullies, the open world Mumbai project whose 2021 trailer drew significant attention.
Best fit: smaller Unreal projects and mobile titles where a founder wants direct access to studio leadership.
Worth confirming: current team size, active project load, and how they scope large open-world briefs, since the studio is small relative to the names above it.
8. Yudiz Solutions
Ahmedabad, incorporated 2011, listed on NSE Emerge in August 2023 as one of the first Indian game and blockchain companies to go public after Nazara. Around 400 people at listing, CMMI Level 3 appraised, working in Unity and Unreal. Their game practice leans heavily toward card and board formats: ludo, rummy, poker, bingo, chess.
Best fit: buyers who want a listed entity with published financials and audited processes behind a card or board game platform.
Worth confirming: how the Online Gaming Rules 2026 apply to your specific card or board format, since that is their strongest category and the framework changed in May. As a listed company, their filings are public, so read them.
9. Osiz Technologies
Madurai, Tamil Nadu, founded 2009 by Thangapandi. Tracxn lists 405 employees as of May 2026, RocketReach lists 261, so the true figure is somewhere in that band. The game practice is positioned around blockchain, Web3, NFT and metaverse titles, alongside Unity and Unreal work, and they hold a 2022 Money Expo award for Game-Fi development per their site.
Best fit: teams specifically building a Web3 or token integrated game who want blockchain engineering and game production from the same vendor.
Worth confirming: the game portfolio specifically, since the services catalog is wide and also covers crypto exchanges, AI and cybersecurity. Ask for playable game references rather than blockchain case studies.
10. Hyperlink InfoSystem
Ahmedabad, founded in 2011 by Harnil Oza. Clutch lists 1,000 plus in house developers, a $25,000 minimum project size and a $25 to $49 hourly band, with offices across the USA, UK, UAE, Canada, France and Australia. Game development sits alongside mobile apps, AI, IoT, blockchain and Salesforce work.
Best fit: companies bundling a game or gamified feature into a larger app or platform build and wanting a single vendor for all of it.
Worth confirming: the size and seniority of the dedicated games team inside a large multi service organization, and who specifically would be assigned to your build.

Why Global Clients Outsource Game Development to India
The cost argument is real, and it is smaller than the pitch decks suggest. Published 2026 rate research puts Indian and Southeast Asian game developers in a $18 to $50 per hour band, Eastern Europe at $35 to $75, and the US and Western Europe at $75 to $150 and up. GoodFirms puts the median hourly rate for its Bengaluru game development category at $37. So the saving against a US studio is genuine, roughly two to four times on labor, but a $20 per hour developer is not four times cheaper than an $80 per hour developer if the brief has to be rewritten twice. Our own Game Development Cost Report 2026 breaks down where the money actually goes across genres, and art and QA usually surprise people more than engineering does.
Talent depth is the stronger argument. NASSCOM figures cited in 2026 directories put India above five million software engineers, and the games layer on top has matured for two decades through art houses working on Elden Ring and Destiny 2. Unity and Unreal skills are common enough that a studio can staff a ten person team in weeks rather than months. That is what US and UK founders underestimate. Not the rate, the speed of standing a team up.
Time zones cut both ways. IST gives a UK client four and a half hours of overlap and a US East Coast client about two and a half. Handled well, that is an overnight build cycle where you review in your morning what was built while you slept. Handled badly, every unanswered question costs a full day. One of our senior producers argues that async discipline matters more than overlap hours, and that the projects that fail are the ones where a client expects real time answers at 4pm Eastern.
The honest tradeoffs. Quality variance across Indian vendors is wide, because the barrier to calling yourself a game studio is a website. Cross border IP and NDA enforcement is slower and costlier than domestic litigation, so contract terms matter more than assurances. Attrition runs high, and the named senior on your kickoff call may not be on your project in month six.
How to Choose a Game Development Company in India
Five checks. Run them in this order, because each one saves you the time of the next.
- Open the store pages. Ask for three live links, not a deck. Check update history. A title last patched in 2022 tells you the studio does not really do LiveOps.
- Match the engine to the genre, not the logo. Every studio lists Unity and Unreal. Ask which shipped title used your engine in your genre, and who on the current bench worked on it.
- Get a written scope with a number attached. If a studio cannot give a price band after a discovery call, either the scope is not understood or the estimate depends on who is free that month.
- Nail down IP, source and build access in the contract. Who owns the repository, when you get access, what happens to assets if the engagement ends at milestone three. In writing, before the first invoice.
- Check the named team, then check attrition. Ask who is assigned, ask for their credits, ask what happens if they leave. A studio with a real answer to the third question has been burned by it before.
A sixth thing, which is not a check so much as a warning. If your game involves money changing hands with Indian users, get regulatory advice before you get a development quote. The Online Gaming Rules 2026 removed the skill versus chance distinction that the entire Indian real money category was built on.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to hire a game development company in India?
Costs in 2026 typically run from around $20,000 for a fixed price mobile MVP to several hundred thousand dollars for a live service or console title. Dedicated teams commonly bill between $15,000 and $40,000 per month depending on seniority and team size. Most Indian studios do not publish prices, so expect a discovery call before you see a number. The main cost drivers are art volume, multiplayer backend and QA, not engineering hours alone.
Why do global studios outsource game development to India?
Three reasons. Labor costs run roughly two to four times lower than US or Western European rates, with 2026 research placing Indian game developers in an $18 to $50 per hour band. India has a very large engineering talent pool, which means a ten person Unity or Unreal team can be staffed in weeks rather than months. And two decades of art outsourcing for global publishers has built genuine production maturity in cities like Gurugram, Bengaluru and Pune.
What should I verify before signing with an Indian game studio?
Verify five things. Live store links for three shipped titles with recent update history. Which specific shipped title used your engine in your genre. A written scope with a price band attached. Contract terms covering IP ownership, source code access, and what happens to assets if the project ends early. And the named team assigned to your project, including what the studio does if a key person leaves mid production.
What are hourly rates for game developers in India in 2026?
Published 2026 rate research places Indian and Southeast Asian game developers in an $18 to $50 per hour band. GoodFirms lists a median of $37 per hour for its Bengaluru game development category, while Clutch shows many Indian firms in a $25 to $49 range. Rates vary by seniority and discipline, with technical artists and backend engineers at the upper end and 2D artists and QA at the lower end.
